16 Alternative Uses for Toothpaste

16 ways to use toothpaste other than brushing

We all know that toothpaste is best known for cleaning plaque off your teeth, and keeping your breath smelling nice and fresh.

What most people do not know, however, is that toothpaste is great for various other uses in and around the house.

Here are some you might find useful:

  • Use a small amount of toothpaste on an old toothbrush to shine your silver.
  • Rubbing some toothpaste on your faucets with a wet sponge will clean away all the build-up on your faucets.
  • Using toothpaste to clean your car headlights will make them shine like brand new due to the chemicals within toothpaste, without damaging it.
  • Ladies know how annoying it is when makeup stains, but with some toothpaste it will come right off your countertops.
  • Toothpaste is perfect for making the soles of your shoes white again, just like new!
  • Sometimes soap and water just doesn’t cut it – rub a little bit of toothpaste on your hands to get rid of fish or garlic smells on your hands after handling.
  • Rubbing a wooden surface gently with toothpaste will get rid of stains without damaging the wood. This works especially well with water marks.
  • Get those burn marks of your iron with some toothpaste. However, make sure the iron is off first!
  • Those with little ones will know the pains of trying to get permanent marker stains off surfaces around the house. Once again, toothpaste will help you! This works especially well on wood.
  • Those stubborn coffee, tea and lipstick stains are no match for toothpaste.
  • Removing clothing stains can be very annoying, lipstick, tomato sauce, red wine or grass? No problem! Gently rub a bit of toothpaste on your clothing or tablecloth stain and let it sit for 5-10 mins before washing thoroughly. Make sure you’re NOT using a whitening toothpaste, this could bleach your clothes, and that’s something toothpaste can’t fix!
  • Cover spots with a small dab of toothpaste before you go to bed, you may wake up and find they are gone!
  • Leaving toothpaste on your nails for a few minutes before washing them will get rid of dirt and stains. This works great for those stubborn dark nail polish stains.
  • One for the budding musicians out there – Brighten up your grubby piano keys with a small bit of toothpaste on a wet cloth.
  • If you have a bruise coming up, mix toothpaste with some moisturiser and rub it on your bruises before bed, this will help get rid of them faster.
  • Last but not least, one for all the clumsy smartphone users – Put some toothpaste on a cloth and rub it over smartphone scratches to smooth out scuffs!
